Driver CPC Training For HGV Drivers

The deadline of 9th September 2014 for completion of the first block of Driver CPC training (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) has now passed. Therefore for drivers of HGV lorries over 7.5 tonnes, 35 hours, or five days of periodic Driver CPC periodic training must have been completed to carry on driving for a living in a professional capacity as the granted acquired rights,  also called ‘Grandfather Rights’, are no longer valid after  9th September.

In addition there is also a legal requirement which will be enforced by VOSA to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years to keep your Driver CPC – the next deadline for completion of this second block of training being 9 September 2019. It should be noted that each five year period starts from five years before your current Driver CPC qualification runs out and NOT from the date that you completed your last 35 hours of Driver CPC training.
