Driver CPC training is a must!

Driver CPC training and certification is here to stay. At a recent RHA National Training Conference a Senior Traffic Commissioner strongly reiterated that those drivers and operators who continue to ignore the requirements for Driver CPC training for professional drivers of buses, coaches, or lorries exceeding 3.5 tons will face very serious consequences.

For those drivers who fail to undertake the legally required 35 hours of Driver CPC training, The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) will have the power to issue fixed penalty notices. These will be referred to the traffic commissioners who can, if they wish after taking into account the driver’s circumstances, order the suspension of the driver’s vocational licence entitlement until Driver CPC training has been completed to ensure compliance.

Operators will be held entirely responsible for ensuring that their drivers receive the necessary 35 hours of Driver CPC training. If they fail to provide this training ahead of the deadline on the 9th September 2014, then they may be called to account at a public enquiry, and the traffic commissioners have the option of taking a hard line of action against the operator’s licence.

The traffic commissioners are asking that all operators view Driver CPC training as an opportunity to invest in the professionalism and ability of their drivers.

To reinforce this viewpoint and assist operators and professional drivers in complying with this legislation to avoid fines etc., the highly experienced training team at ACE training of Basingstoke provide Driver CPC Training courses in conjunction with RTITB.
The expert team at ACE provide full Driver CPC training that is relevant to the driver’s employment. Their Driver CPC courses cover full training in the five modules required to obtain the CPC qualification, and to accumulate the total of 35 hours Driver CPC training.
