Driver CPC Training

Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) was introduced across the European Union to raise standards and improve safety. All professional bus and coach drivers and drivers of Lorries of 3.5 ton’s and upwards, license categories C, C1, C+E, C1+E must hold a Driver CPC if they want to drive for a living. Affected drivers will need to complete a minimum of 35 hours of approved training within every 5 year cycle starting on September 10th 2008 for bus and coach drivers and September 10th 2009 for lorry drivers. The minimum length of a periodic training course is 7 hours (1 day’s course) . Courses can be split into two parts of 3.5 hours subject to approval. However the second part must start within 24 hours of the completion of the first part in order to count towards driver CPC periodic training. Periodic training should be designed to complement a driver’s work and be relevant to their everyday job. Those who hold license’s in category C, C1, CE, C1E on the date of introduction be granted acquired rights (Grandfather Rights) up until 9th September 2014. Before September 9th 2014 those who wish to continue driving for a living will need to have completed 35 hours of approved periodic training* Upon completion of all 5 Modules no further tests or examinations will be required and you will have accumulated a total of 35 hours Training for that period *Failure to complete the training before these dates would mean that you would be driving illegally with a likely fine to be up to £1,000.00 Full Module details are for the driver C.P.C Modules -
